Behavior Logs

I hope everyone is having a great weekend. Since I was out observing at another school on Friday, the behavior logs were not sent home. They will be sent home tomorrow with the students. Please return them back to school on Tuesday if possible. Thank you, and enjoy your Sunday! :)

A big thank you to Garrett's mom Lisa! She is going to be our class Room Mom! I know that she will have lots of help from all the wonderful parents in our class! Also, thank you to everyone that has sent in the $2 donation for Spelling City. I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend and getting in some family time. Our class is still in need of a room parent, so if you are interested, please email me! We could even have 2 or 3 parents do the job togehter. I promise I will make it easy for you! I am very flexible. :)

A great first full week of school!

We are off to a great start. I am so proud of how all the students are transitioning into readers' and writers' workshop. I am exited for all that is ahead for us this year in 3rd grade! Have a wonderful weekend!!

Spelling Test and Book Orders

We will have our first spelling test tomorrow. Students are only responsible for #s 1-20. The last four are always bonus words. Generally, they will be vocabulary words from the Houghton Mifflin story that we are working on. Book Orders: If you are planning on ordering books from our September book order, please either order online or return the order form with a check by Monday 9/17. Thank you!

Welcome!!!

Welcome to the 2012-2013 school year! I am excited to be working with such a great group of students! This is going to be a wonderful 3rd grade year! Homework started today. We have reading and spelling homework for tonight. We do not have math for our first night of homework.

Today we started reading partners!!!We have to read the same book as our partner! Some people have 3 reading partners, but most have 2. We all had a wonderful time readig!

Candy Train

On Friday we are going to make a candy train. We are all so excided to do it! Students brought in the items to make the trains. It is going to be so much fun!

Tongva Essay

This week we wrote an essay on the Tongva. We did a picture too. We all took our time to do a good report. Some of us are still working on it.

Tongva

Today we were learning about the Tongva! We had to compare what Tongva ate and what we eat. We even had to draw a picture about how Tongva people lived long ago. We had a great time learning about Tongva!!!

Tongva People

Today all the students drew picyures of the kies that the tongva(gabrielino)people made and lived in. We labled all the parts like the smoke hole and the door. We also learned what they ate(berries,seeds,acorns,fish,and fruit).All the students filled a paper that had a venn diagram that had a side that said your food and the other side tongva food and middle both eat.

Field Trip

Today we had our field trip! We went to the Environmental Nature Center! We learned about the Tongva Indians. They made almost everything out of string. we had a great time learning on our trip!
